The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) reports to the Vice President "Faculty Affairs and Scientific Information" (member of the Executive Board of the University).

Cooperation with other safety-relevant bodies is essential for the effectiveness of various measures.

The Role of the CISO

The main goal of the CISO is to secure the information of the University of Zurich.

Information is indispensable knowledge for the successful fulfillment of almost all procedures, tasks and processes at the University of Zurich.
Information must be available when it is needed, accessible only to those who have the appropriate authorization and provided in the expected, unaltered form.

The Role of the ISOs

The representatives of the units (Information Security Officers, ISOs for short) are employees from the central services, faculties, departments, institutes and professorships.

Their task is to liase between their unit and the CISO, to conduct self-assessments of their unit regarding cybersecurity resilience and, if necessary, to work in the awareness guild.
